Oh the Places You’ll Go!

May 13th, 2009 by Jill

This year’s Vacation Bible School is June 22-26 and we are so excited for it! Our kids will be learning that God can do BIG things with someone little, just like them! We’ll be learning about how God used kids in the Bible for great purposes–Samuel, David, Josiah, Jesus, and the boy with the loaves and fishes.

Pick up a registration form at the church offices during the week, the VBS table on the weekends, or click on the link below to download a PDF copy of the form. Register by June 7 for early bird pricing!

Questions? Call the church offices or leave a comment on this post and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible!

Can’t wait for June 22!

This past week, Rocky Wing presented the entire Old Testament (books and content) to our fourth and fifth graders. And he did it mostly through song! Enjoy the final song, or if you have a half hour, watch the whole teaching!

This Fall in Children’s Ministries

September 24th, 2008 by Jill

There’s a lot of excitement around Morning Star’s Children’s Ministries!

New Staff
As many of you know, Amy Chirgwin served our church for two years as our Early Childhood Director and did a wonderful job. This fall she’s getting married and being whisked away to Paris! Taking her place is Lucy Younis. Lucy has years of experience in leading early childhood ministry and is excited to be on our team! She’ll be spending most of her time with our preschool kids because we’ve also hired Mallory Crain to coordinate our Wee Zone classes. Mallory has been a volunteer in Wee Zone for the past year and served as the Nursery Coordinator at her previous church. We’re so grateful that the Lord has prepared Lucy and Mallory for this ministry and brought them here at just the right time!

Something New in Elementary
We’ve restructured our elementary department! You’ve probably heard about Bridge 45, our new ministry to 4th and 5th graders. We’ve been meeting weekly to write a program for this age group and are thrilled to provide teaching that addresses the rapid growth they’re facing. It’s been great to see this new ministry launch over the past few weeks. Equally exciting is our new class for kindergarten—third graders called Adventure Mountain. Jared Boltman, our Elementary Director, is leading this transition. It couldn’t be in better hands.

A New Name
With all this restructuring we saw the need to rename our ministry—after all, one of the zones would be obsolete (Grow Zone), and we really wanted an overall name (more than just “Children’s Ministries”). We wanted a name that kids could remember, where they’d say to their friends, “Do you want to come to ______ with me?”

After some prayerful brainstorming, we’re excited to introduce Adventureland! It’ll be a place where kids adventure through the Bible and see that God’s Word is exciting! Wee Zone (infants-2’s & 3’s) will become Adventure Ranch, Wonder Zone (3’s, 4’s, 5’s & Tender Hearts) will become Adventure Cove, and kindergarten—3rd grade will be Adventure Mountain.

We have logos all ready to go and will launch the new name in October when we open the new modular unit for Bridge 45.

The Jingle Jam was Joyful!

December 12th, 2007 by Jill

The Jingle Jam Christmas Program and Family Experience was a lot of fun last Sunday! Our Wee & Wonder Zone classes did a wonderful job singing their songs, and the Family Experience was a hit! Thanks to all of our volunteers who made it possible–from the teachers of our early childhood kids to the actors to the sound booth guys. We couldn’t have done it without you!
